The agreement signed between the two companies plans to install more than 9,200 solar s at Snop’s factories across three European countries, with a total capacity of approximately 5 MWp. The installations will be located in key sites such as Étupes (), Nigrán (Spain), and Artern and Buchholz (). Additionally, the project is set to expand, with plans to reach up to 10 MWp capacity, adding new countries such as Italy and Poland to the initiative.

The installation in Spain is already operational, having been completed just six months after the agreement was signed.

Thanks to this agreement, Snop will consume locally generated renewable energy, reducing its reliance on the conventional power grid and increasing its use of clean electricity at its factories. The impact of this collaboration is significant, as it will cover around 20% of the electricity consumption needs at the company’s facilities.

The solar projects will generate approximately 4.6 GWh annually, enough to power over 1,400 homes with renewable electricity. Additionally, they will help avoid the emission of more than 3,400 tons of CO2 per year, a significant reduction compared to the emissions that would result from producing the same amount of electricity from non-renewable sources.

“We are proud to have been chosen by another multinational to provide clean, secure, and affordable energy, a key step in accelerating the energy transition,” she added.

Meanwhile, Jan Selbach, Senior Purchasing Director at Snop, said: “We are pleased to work with EDP on our carbon strategy, a crucial step in achieving our carbon neutrality goals. This collaboration is essential in our journey, and we are actively exploring opportunities to expand it to other countries. This is just the beginning of a productive partnership.”

The decentralized solar energy projects will be implemented under the “As-a-Service” model, where EDP will cover 100% of the investment, maintenance, and operation of the installations, sharing the financial benefits of the project with Snop. In this way, both companies strengthen their commitment to a more sustainable future.
