JA SOLAR’s 20th anniversary takes center stage at Intersolar Europe 2025 4n3u13
JA SOLAR, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-performance photovoltaic products, celebrated its 20th anniversary at Intersolar Europe 2025 with a standout presence and a clear focus on technological innovation and sustainability. From its two-story, 335 m² booth, the company showcased why it continues to lead the solar sector two decades after its founding. 1r1k6y
In an exclusive interview with Review Energy, Henning Schulze, President Europe at JA SOLAR, reflected on the company’s journey and the foundations of its global leadership:
"When JA started in 2005, it entered the market as a pure cell manufacturer. We brought manufacturing excellence from the semiconductor industry into Chinese PV production. A strong focus on quality and R&D has been key from the very beginning."
During the event, JA SOLAR showcased a wide range of solutions designed to meet the current demands of the PV market: from anti-dust modules, floating solar solutions with enhanced corrosion resistance, and transparent AgriPV modules for dual-use applications, to anti-glare modules for sensitive environments and elegant residential options in all-black or silver frame designs. A special 3.2 + 2 mm glass version was also highlighted, along with one of the company’s BESS energy storage systems.
Sustainability beyond the product
JA SOLAR also introduced its ITS Low Carbon modules, capable of reducing Co2 emissions by up to 40% compared to conventional Chinese modules. But Schulze emphasized that sustainability for JA SOLAR extends beyond the product itself:
“It's not enough for the module to be sustainable. We must also look at our own production and reduce its environmental impact as much as possible. That includes using resources efficiently, water, clean energy, and thinking about the product’s full life cycle, including recycling,” he stated.
JA SOLAR’s sustainability vision, Schulze explained, includes a holistic approach that ranges from responsible resource consumption to material reuse, aiming to minimize environmental impact at every stage.
Storage: the next frontier
Another key pillar for the future, according to Schulze, is energy storage. “We believe that storage will be essential for solar to truly power national economies. It’s the next big challenge for the industry. We’re newcomers in this segment, but we’ve adopted a focused approach and will grow from there.”
The company has committed to this growing segment by ensuring that its strategies are increasingly aligned with the evolving needs of the storage industry — from product development to lifecycle management — as part of a broader vision to offer comprehensive, future-proof energy solutions.
Borussia Dortmund, solar energy and popular culture
One of the most eye-catching moments of the fair was JA SOLAR’s activation with Borussia Dortmund. In addition to a scaled model of SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, the company presented a bold new project to install a solar power system on the stadium’s roof, set to become the largest PV installation on any sports stadium in the world.
“This is not just a sponsorship. It’s installing solar energy in an iconic stadium whose matches are broadcast to over 200 countries. It’s a way to bring sustainability into popular culture, to put solar energy in people’s minds,” Schulze explained.
With 280 GW of cumulative module shipments by the end of Q1 2025 and presence in 178 countries, JA SOLAR is not only celebrating its history — it is reaffirming its role as a key player in the global solar energy transition. As Schulze noted during our interview: “Now we’re entering a new phase. The challenge is how solar can power entire economies — and JA SOLAR is ready to lead that path.”
