The two certified sites, located in Shanghai and Yangzhou, China, have undergone a thorough evaluation under the SSI ESG Standard, a rigorous set of criteria designed to assess a site's performance across three core areas: Governance and Business Ethics, Environmental Performance, and Human and Labour Rights.

Governance and Business Ethics focus on ensuring transparent and ethical business practices. Environmental Performance looks at a site’s environmental footprint and its efforts to minimize its impact. Human and Labour Rights assess labor conditions and rights, ensuring that the working environment is safe and ethical for all employees. This certification highlights JA Solar’s commitment to ensuring that its manufacturing processes align with global best practices for sustainability and responsible corporate governance.

To obtain certification, manufacturing of the Sustainable Solar Initiative (SSI) must undergo an assessment by an SSI-approved third-party body within 12 months of ing the organization. Sites are assessed every three years to ensure ongoing compliance with the standards.
