Talking about solar energy today is common. However, 30 years ago, it wasn’t. In the 90s, when the focus was on fossil fuels, a visionary group decided to bet on something that, at the time, seemed distant: a cleaner and more sustainable future through renewable energy. 5y322h

One of the key milestones came in 2006 when they founded Jiangsu Zhongneng, a key company in the production of materials for photovoltaic generation. This step marked the beginning of a journey that transformed GCL into one of the most important suppliers in the world.

A year later, in 2007, the company made another leap: it went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the name GCL Technology Holdings. This not only opened the doors to the world but also solidified their position as leaders in the manufacturing of polycrystalline silicon, a fundamental component for solar s.

Over time, GCL realized that manufacturing materials wasn’t enough, they needed to offer complete solutions. This led to the creation of GCL System Integration (GCL SI) in 2015, intending to integrate the entire solar ecosystem: from modules to energy storage.

But they didn’t stop there. In parallel, GCL began exploring other key technologies, such as materials for lithium batteries and green hydrogen. New specialized divisions emerged, transforming the company into a comprehensive energy solutions platform.

One of GCL’s standout bets has been its work with Fluidized Bed Reactor (FBR) technology, a more efficient and environmentally friendly process for producing granular silicon. The result? Lower costs, fewer emissions, and a much smaller carbon footprint.

Such developments are no accident; they form part of a clear sustainability strategy. For instance, the company has promoted over 220 standards for the industry and launched innovative initiatives, such as a blockchain-based platform that allows the carbon traceability of every photovoltaic product.
