Italy, Albania, and the United Arab Emirates have signed a strategic trilateral agreement in Abu Dhabi to boost cooperation in renewable energy development and energy infrastructure. The agreement, signed by Italy's Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto; UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, Sultan Al Jaber; and Albania's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, outlines key areas of collaboration. These include the development of large-scale renewable energy projects in Albania, focusing on solar photovoltaics, wind power, and hybrid systems with battery storage capabilities.
A significant portion of the renewable energy produced in Albania will be transmitted to Italy through a cross-border electricity interconnection, which is also part of the agreement.

The g took place during the High-Level Dialogue on Grid Interconnectivity, held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The ceremony was attended by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed.
According to a statement from Palazzo Chigi, the agreement "marks a significant step forward in promoting sustainable development, enhancing regional cooperation, and strengthening Italy's role as an energy hub in the Mediterranean."
Minister Pichetto emphasized that the strategic framework highlights "the global commitment to the energy transition and demonstrates that achieving the ambitious climate goals set during COP28 in Dubai is possible through international cooperation."
