RES has secured the asset management contract for the Larks Green project, the UK’s first co-located solar and battery energy storage system connected to the transmission network.  6ct2h

According to the company, the site, located near Bristol, developed by Enso Energy and owned by Cero Generation, combines 70 MW of solar energy with a 50 MW battery energy storage system (BESS), which supplies renewable energy to the grid when it is most needed.

RES already provides operation and maintenance services for the solar park and has been its asset manager for approximately a year. It will now also manage the BESS to oversee the operational performance of the combined Larks Green project and ensure it generates maximum value for the grid and local communities.

Robert Mattholie, Head of Solar and Storage Asset Management for RES in Northern Europe, stated: “As the UK accelerates its transition to net-zero, projects like Larks Green highlight the importance of integrating cutting-edge technologies with experienced partners to deliver sustainable energy solutions. This project demonstrates the potential of co-located energy storage and renewable energy systems to strengthen the UK’s energy resilience.”

Meanwhile, Marta Martínez Queimadelos, CEO of Cero Generation, added: “It is crucial that our projects benefit the surrounding communities. We expect to generate a 25% net biodiversity gain at Larks Green by enhancing hedgerows and ing local employment. By partnering with RES, a leader in asset management, we are confident that this site will serve as a cornerstone for the UK’s transition to a cleaner and more reliable energy future.”
