At Intersolar Europe 2025, RatedPower showcased its commitment to advancing the photovoltaic project lifecycle by introducing integrated solutions such as PRISM Europe and the new Layout Editor. These innovations aim to enhance every phase of PV plant development, offering improved flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency. 6rp6j
Review Energy had the opportunity to speak exclusively with Julian Scheer, Principal Consultant at RatedPower, who provided insights into these advancements and the company's strategic vision for the future.
“It’s really important that we try to cover more and more of the project lifecycle,” Scheer said. “So, we wanted to start a bit earlier in the process and also go deeper. I’d say our main innovations are PRISM, a tool where you can do site prospecting, and a Layout Editor where you can later adjust the layout to gain more detail. And of course, BESS arbitrage systems—everyone is talking about BESS, so definitely.”
According to Scheer, the company’s goal is not only to display plots or data but to integrate them meaningfully. “For example, in PRISM, access to information and data is available, and integration directly into the RatedPower workflow is also possible, enabling deeper analysis. The editor operates in the same manner: work is conducted within the tool, and it is integrated with RatedPower. Therefore, this constitutes a comprehensive end-to-end solution,” he explained.
On expanding the company’s footprint across the European renewable energy sector, Scheer emphasized that the key is remaining digital, innovative, and easy to use.
Amid industry challenges like a shortage of skilled labor, RatedPower is focused on developing accessible tools that different teams can use collaboratively and intuitively.
“We try to adapt to local needs. For example, faces different challenges than Italy or Spain, so we work to make sure our features are tailored to each market,” said Scheer.
During the event, the company also introduced the new Layout Editor, which gives RatedPower’s s greater flexibility and control over layout design, allowing them to build smarter PV layouts with real-time data and access accurate, reliable calculations.
RatedPower's commitment to BESS integration
More and more projects are looking to incorporate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), something RatedPower has taken into in its offerings. The company developed the BESS arbitrage systems to meet this need.
Now, s can perform energy arbitrage calculations for both standalone and AC-coupled storage systems, enabling smarter energy management. With this feature, they can optimize BESS charging, customize annual degradation, set daily cycle limits, and adjust the depth of discharge.
According to Scheer: “If a client has complex needs and wants to see how a project works with a battery alongside a PV plant, they can simply edit it, view the results quickly, and modify it. Being flexible is key for us.”
Once again, the company reaffirmed its commitment to the industry by responding to market needs and adapting its solutions to the latest sector trends. In doing so, it made clear its goal of increasing involvement across all stages of the photovoltaic project lifecycle.
