Italy's National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) aims to achieve an installed capacity of 131 GW from renewable energy sources (RES) by 2030. In 2023, Italy reached 30.28 GW in solar photovoltaic capacity, with 1,594,974 installations nationwide, solidifying its position among European leaders. The solar sector now represents a significant portion of the total electricity generation, with 49% of new capacity coming from residential installations (up to 20 kW), 36% from industrial and commercial projects (200 kW to 1 MW), and 15% attributed to large-scale projects (over 1 MW).
