1. España rompe récord histórico de generación fotovoltaica: 61,5% del mix eléctrico peninsular 1g6i4s

España ha vuelto a hacer historia en el ámbito de las energías renovables. A las 13:35 horas de ayer 21 de abril, el país alcanzó una producción instantánea de energía solar fotovoltaica de 20.120 megavatios (MW) en el sistema peninsular, lo que representó el 61,5% del mix eléctrico peninsular y cerca del 60% del mix eléctrico nacional, según confirmó Red Eléctrica.

Este hito supera el anterior récord registrado el 12 de julio de 2024, cuando se alcanzaron 19.977 MW de producción instantánea a las 14:20 horas. La nueva marca representa un incremento del 0,7% respecto a ese máximo histórico.

2. Trump istration orders suspension of Empire Wind 1 construction

The istration of U.S. President Donald Trump, through the Department of the Interior, has ordered the immediate suspension of all construction activities for the Empire Wind 1 offshore wind energy project, developed by Empire Offshore Wind LLC, a company owned by Equinor.

The decision was officially communicated on April 16 by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to the General Counsel, Equinor Wind US LLC, Matthew Brotmann. The letter notified the company of its obligation to halt operations on the outer continental shelf until a new environmental review is completed. The order stems from received, including from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric istration (NOAA), as part of a broader federal reassessment of offshore wind projects.

3. UK allocates £300 million to boost offshore wind development

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has advanced £300 million for Great British Energy to invest in offshore wind supply chains ahead of the Future of Energy Security Summit.

The fund will boost domestic employment, unlock additional private investment, and secure manufacturing facilities for critical clean energy supply chains, including floating offshore platforms. Workers and businesses in the UK’s industrial regions will benefit from this investment, which is expected to mobilize billions of pounds in additional private capital—both directly and indirectly—helping to de-risk clean energy projects, create thousands of jobs, and revitalize industrial areas across the country.

4. Inaugurado BESS del Desierto, el primer sistema de almacenamiento stand-alone a gran escala de Chile y Latinoamérica

Con una capacidad instalada de 200 MW y 800 MWh, BESS del Desierto tiene como principal objetivo almacenar energía solar durante las horas de abundancia y reinyectarla al sistema eléctrico en momentos de alta demanda. Este sistema, compuesto por 320 baterías de última generación, promete aportar estabilidad y eficiencia al sistema eléctrico nacional, al tiempo que reduce las pérdidas de energía generada en momentos de baja demanda.

5. Battery electric vehicles reach 15% of the EU's market share

According to the latest ACEA report, in the first quarter of 2025, new car registrations in the EU declined by 1.9% compared to the first quarter of 2024.

The data shows that battery electric vehicles (BEVs) ed for 15.2% of the EU’s market share, up from a low of 12% in the first quarter of 2024. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) experienced a significant surge, reaching 35.5% of the market and remaining the preferred choice among EU consumers. Meanwhile, the combined market share of petrol and diesel vehicles dropped to 38.3%, down from 48.3% during the same period in 2024.
