In Spain, Digital Realty has entered into three separate 12-year solar power agreements with BRUC, a prominent solar developer based in Spain. These projects are located in the provinces of Cadiz and Zaragoza. BRUC's CEO, Luis Venero, emphasized the strategic importance of this agreement, stating, "This agreement is part of our strategy to achieve stable, long-term income with reputable companies that share our vision of a renewable energy transition to fight against climate change."
Wind energy initiatives in
Digital Realty has also secured two 15-year agreements for wind energy projects in . Developed by wpd, a leading renewable energy project developer headquartered in , these wind farms are situated in the regions of Bretagne and Hauts-de-. Grégoire Simon, President of wpd onshore , expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "We at wpd are proud to our customers’ objectives to reduce their carbon footprint. PPA contracts offer cost-effective and predictable energy supply solutions for companies wishing to commit to the energy transition."
Significant renewable energy contribution
Collectively, these agreements represent an estimated 347 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable energy, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 200,000 households in Europe annually. These projects will further enhance the pool of renewable energy in Europe, where Digital Realty’s operations have been 100% matched with renewable energy since 2020.
