According to ScottishPower Renewables, the agreement will allow the components and sections of the Siemens Gamesa turbines for this £4 billion wind farm to be assembled at the Norfolk facility before being installed in the southern North Sea in 2028.
The 64 turbines at East Anglia TWO will have the capacity to generate up to 960 MW of green electricity, enough to power nearly one million homes.
Offshore construction for East Anglia TWO is expected to begin in 2027, with the wind farm becoming operational in 2028.
Ross Ovens, managing director of marine energy at ScottishPower Renewables, stated that “generating more green energy in the UK provides energy security and reduces our dependence on fossil fuels, which will help lower customer bills. But it also does much more than that: it makes a real difference to people and places, creating jobs, growth, and long-lasting economic benefits.”
“It’s fantastic to be working with Peel Ports Great Yarmouth to bring this project to life for the people and businesses of East Anglia, while also showcasing the world-class facilities we have here, right on our doorstep, to a global industry. I look forward to seeing our green energy towers take shape when the project begins,” Ovens added.
For his part, Richard Goffin, director of Peel Ports Group, said he was very proud that ScottishPower Renewables had "once again chosen Great Yarmouth to this huge project, after having worked together previously on the development of East Anglia One. This ongoing collaboration reflects the confidence in the capabilities, facilities, and team at our port. Great Yarmouth has proven to be an exceptional base for the growing offshore renewable energy market, not just in the southern North Sea, but extending beyond, including the North Sea.”
